Now, classes are held for an approximate 33-week season, Tuesday evenings from
September to May, with a slightly shorter session for children. Prospective dancers are welcomed with a Newcomer's Dance to
start the year and both the Beginners and Experienced classes join for a combined evening of simple dances before beginning
their individual classes. Monthly social dances on Friday evenings are popular, as are occasional "Step Above" classes
featuring unusual dances or formations and/or technique improvement.
The annual Christmas party (a lavish pot-luck affair) and traditional Burns' supper (catered) are particularly well attended as was the group's first annual "Liftlock Linkin'", a ball with the music of Bobby Brown and the Scottish Accent held in October of 2004. May 2007 marks the 23rd annual Stony Lake Weekend, Peterborough's dance workshop and ball with live music by Fred Moyes. This event attracts dancers from a wide area of Ontario and the eastern United States. PSCDS dancers participate regularly in numerous local demonstrations for major civic events, such as Canada Day celebrations and the annual Festival of Trees fund-raiser. They have participated in the annual Dragon Boat Races, the opening of the City's Millennium Park (riverfront site of PSCDS summer dancing in June and July), and the municipal observance of the Queen's Golden Jubilee, as well as entertaining residents of Peterborough's many retirement communities, among others.
